Outstanding Pastoral Care
At Nancy Reuben Primary School, we aim to provide outstanding pastoral care and support to all our pupils and work very closely with all our parents to ensure our pupils are safe and happy. Pupils know they can speak to their Class or Kodesh Teacher or any member of staff listed below at any time if they experience a problem at school. In October 2017, 91% of parents told Ofsted their child feels safe at school and 90% of parents said their child is well looked after.
Communication between home and school is a key element in a child’s well- being. At the Information Evening which we hold at the start of each year, parents are reminded how important it is to inform us should there be any issues at home that may be troubling your child.
Moral and ethical issues are dealt with in PSHE lessons and assemblies. Circle Time is used to reaffirm how important empathy and listening skills are.
We have a regular pupil progress tracking meetings dedicated to discussing every child in the class, covering both academic and pastoral concerns, to ensure that we are all aware of any issues, thus enabling us to work as a team ensuring every single child’s needs are known and catered for.
The Head Teacher takes great personal care regarding the pastoral and welfare needs of every child from Playgroup to Year 6 spending time in every class and getting to know the children.

Supporting Pupil well-being, Mental Health and Resilience during 2018/19
"One in five children will experience a mental health difficulty at least once during their first 11 years, and many adults with lifetime mental health issues can trace their symptoms back to childhood" source: https://www.place2be.org.uk/media/10046/Childrens_Mental_Health_Week_2016_report.pdf
At Nancy Reuben Primary School, the Head Teacher and staff are being proactive to support children. Here are some of the things we offer:
During 2018/19, we are working with Norwood to deliver two programmes in school. Heads Up Kids is a programme for Year 3 which will run from January 2019 and The Pyramid Club will run in Summer 2019.
Butterfly Kidz is a programme we are delivering in Year 2 from September 2018.
The NSPCC have delivered the Speak Up, Stay Safe programme in October 2018 for all children in Reception to Year 6. Soren Bennick's special assembly "The Power of One"was delivered at school during Anti Bullying Week on 14th November 2018 for Reception to Year 6.
Our staff are encouraging growth mindset and resilience by encouraging children to give it their best shot and to learn from mistakes.
